The Pre-Eminence Of The Lord Jesus Christ

God has exalted him and bestowed upon him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend of those in heaven, on earth, and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. In Matthew 3:17, God’s voice from heaven statesThis is my Son whom I love.John 3:31 statesHe who comes from above is above all.John 13:13states You call me Teacher and Lord; and rightly so, for that is what I am.In 1 Corinthians 8:6, St. Paul exhortsYet for us there is only one God, the Father, from who all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.  Jesus Christ is God, Creator, Head of all creation.
In Colossians 1:15-20, St. Paul in his magnificent Christological hymn gives evidence of the pre-eminence of Jesus Christ.
The pre-eminence of Christ is asserted from the view point of His divine nature.  His work as redeemer is inevitable.  In the image of the Almighty Father, He is true God of true God.
Scripture affirms in Him were created all things in the heavens and on the earth.  The Biblical passages affirm He is God-Creator and Head!  He is the head of his body the Church, he is the beginning and the first-born from the dead.  The dominion and supremacy of Jesus Christ can be found in this biblical hymn!
Sacred Scripture gives evidence Jesus is God’s sovereign choice.
Romans 9:4-5 gives evidence that to the Israelites belong the sonship, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, the promise, to them belong the patriarchs, and of their race according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever.  Amen.  The Bible gives evidence Jesus Christ is the incarnate Word!
In Mark 1:1, St. Mark states
The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God!
In John 1:1, St. John states
In the beginning was the word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God!
This confirms his Lordship over all creation.
In John 1:14, St. John states
…and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, we have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth!
Jesus is the visibility of the invisible God, the humanity of God.
John 1:16-17 states
And from his fullness we have all received grace upon grace; For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
Let us look at the greetings and doxology of St. John in the Apocalypse!  Revelation 1:4-6 states
Grace and peace to you from him who is and who was and who is coming, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the first born of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.  To him who has loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, and made us to be a kingdom and priests to God his Father – to him belong glory and dominion forever and ever, Amen!
In Isaiah 42:1 Sacred Scripture states
Behold my servant, whom I uphold, in whom my soul delights.  I have put my Spirit upon him, he will bring forth justice to the nations.

In John 8:12 Jesus exhorts
I am the light of the world, he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.
1 Corinthians 1:30 states
It is due to him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, as well as righteousness, sanctification, and redemption…
The Blood of Christ is our Justification, Redemption and Spiritual power.  Salvation is in Christ.
Romans 3:21-25 states
But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from law, although the law and the prophets bear witness to it, the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe.  For there is no distinction; since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, they are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as an expiation by his blood, to be received by faith.
In Romans 5:8-9, St. Paul exhorts
But God shows his love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.  Since, therefore, we are now justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.
Sacred Scripture gives evidence of the power of the precious blood.  See Ephesians 1:7, Ephesians 2:13, Colossians 1:20, Hebrews 9:14, Hebrews 9:22, 1 Peter 1:18-19, 1 John 1:7-9, Revelations 1:5, and Revelations 12:11!

Daniel’s great prophecy of the Kingship of Christ is inevitable in the Old Testament book of Daniel 7:14:
…and to him was given dominion and glory and kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.
In Matthew 2:9-12, Christ Kingship is truly evident when the Magi, the three wise men, followed the star in the east to find the Christ, then bowing down they worshipped him, and gave the Lord Jesus Christ treasures of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

…for to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder, and his name will be called, “Wonderful Counselor” “Mighty God” “Everlasting Father” and “Prince of Peace” of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forever-more.
